Bristol, said the poet John Betjeman is 'the most beautiful, interesting and distinguished city in England.'

Browns in Bristol was opened in 1992 and is housed in the building that has served as the City's museum, art gallery and the University Dining Rooms, modelled on the Doge's Palace in Venice.

It had been badly damaged during the war, but was restored to its original glory by Browns working closely with the conservation authorities.

The result is a most distinctive exterior housing a high ceilinged restaurant and bar that is popular with business people, students and their friends and families as well as locals from a wide area. The restaurant serves the Browns menu and the bar is well known also for its good selection of snacks, light meals as well as wines, cocktails and mixed drinks.
